A little somethin i wrote about my first experience… Yeah… The first time I held a tattoo machine… Well I was very nervous. I explained the procedure to my client after he chose the design he desired. I wiped a folded paper towel across the top of a tube of deodorant and laid a film across the skin. The deodorant makes the stencil image stick .... I then dipped the needles into a tiny cup of black ink and pressed the foot pedal as the machine was lowered to the skin. I carved the needles along the stenciled line, wiping away the excess ink with a paper towel twisted between the fingers of my hand holding the machine. The skin gave slightly before the needles pushed through... I dipped, pressed, pierced. A thousand times a minute… At that time, there were loads of questions running through my head. What am I doing? Is this for real? This is no more school days where markers were used on friends’ arms, shoulders and backs. There is no room for mistakes. I cannot erase anything that goes wrong. I only have one chance. Was I even doing it right? Then the thrill set in, a combination of fear and uncertainty and adrenaline mingled with glee and uncontrollable excitement. The thrill coursed through me like electricity, and the pulse of my own blood pounded in my throat. I looked down at the tattoo machine I was holding, and my hand felt like it belonged to someone else, cold and distant. Before long, I was lost in the sensation, and the vibrations from the machine that sang along the nerves of my hand which flickered up the insides of my wrists… I was getting the hang of it. Eventually the tattoo turned out real nice. My client walked out with a big smile on his face that day . And of course he came back for more... Today… I just love to see my work walk…
